WE COME TO THE TABLE

An evening of reflection and renewal. This program will provide time to reflect on what we believe about the ministry, to look at the practical ways our belief is enacted at Mass and to consider how we carry that belief into our everyday lives.

VISITATION TO THE SICK WORKSHOP
Starting on Wednesday, Sept. 10th and extending for 6 weeks, a workshop on Pastoral Care to the Sick and Homebound will be offered at St. Mary's in Hanover from 7:00 until 9:30 PM. This workshop will be team-taught by Sr. Paula Tinlin SND, a certified Chaplain at Carney Hospital in Dorchester and Nan Bourche, a certified Chaplain who is the coordinator of Catholic Pastoral Service at Jordan Hospital. This workshop includes communication skills, basics of a pastoral visit, illness issues, spiritual needs and concerns, grief, loss and dying and care giving issues. STAMPS! STAMPS! STAMPS!
Last year, St. Christine's collected books of stamps (37 cent rate) for elderly and disabled individuals on fixed incomes who are not able to afford them. Each person expressed deep gratitude for this thoughtful and much needed gift. This summer we ask you to put your books of stamps in the weekly collection baskets at the church and chapel. Thank you in advance for helping with this most important need.

SOWING SEEDS - Current Needs

Back to School Needs:
Backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, markers and crayons, school clothing from pre-school to high school, Payless Shoe gift certificates. To donate or obtain back to school clothing, visit Sowing Seeds which is located on Rt. 139 at the corner of Plain and School Streets. Hours are Thursday and Saturday from 10 AM until 12 noon.

Volunteers especially are needed once a month on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until 12 noon.

Drivers for medical appointments both locally and in Boston. Gas costs and parking fees will be provided if necessary. To volunteer, please call Sowing Seeds at 781-837-3337.

BEREAVED PARENTS:
Monday, Sept. 8th at 7:30 PM The Bereaved Parents Support Group is for families who have experienced the death of a child. The group gathers to listen, to care, and to understand each other in the process of grieving, healing and growing to recovery. This month the Bereaved Parents will meet in the parish hall. NAMI
The National Association of Mental Illness is sponsoring a family to family support group and educational classes for relatives of those who suffer from depression, panic disorder and other mental illnesses. The support group meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Marshfield United Methodist Church from 7:00 until 8:30 PM. The weekly educational classes will begin on September 9th at Jordan Hospital from 6:30 until 8:30 PM. Please call NAMI Plymouth Area at 781-829-7215 for more information.

 

The Religious Education Office will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week from 9:30 AM until 3:30 PM.

CATECHETICAL SUNDAY
On Sunday, September 14th at the 9:00 AM Mass, St. Christine's catechists will be honored and commissioned for their important ministry to the children and adolescents of our parish community. A reception will follow in the parish hall. All are welcome!

CLASSES: GRADES 1 - 8
Classes will commence on Sunday, September 21st at 10:00 AM. Teachers will be calling their students after September 11th. Please make certain that your tuition fee is paid before classes begin.

PRE-SCHOOL
Our Pre-School program will begin on Sunday, September 28th at 8:45 AM in the parish hall.

TEACHER MEETINGS:
Grade 8 Teachers
Monday, September 8th at 6:30 PM in the parish hall.

Grade 7 Teachers
Tuesday, September 9th at 6:30 PM in the parish hall.

Grades Pre-School - Grade 6:
Thursday, September 11th at 7:30 PM in the parish hall.

PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN This training program will be repeated on September 14th at 6:00 PM for all catechists who have not yet participated in this program. Please call the Religious Education Office to register.

CONFIRMATION TEACHER MEETINGS
Grade 10: Tuesday, Sept 9th at 7 PM
Grade 9: Wednesday, Sept 10th at 7 PM

These meetings will take place in the CCD Office.
PEER MINISTERS will meet on Sunday evening, September 14th at 7:00 PM in the parish hall.


PARKING LOT REPAIRS
This week, the parking lot at St. Christine's will be repaired. Please park in the back parking lot to the right of the rectory. Thank you for your cooperation.

JUNIOR & CHILDREN'S CHOIRS The Junior Choir rehearsals will begin on Monday, September 8th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. The Junior Choir will sing every Sunday at the 9:00 AM Mass except on September 14th.
The Children's Choir will begin rehearsals on Monday, September 15th at 6:00 PM.

CONNECTED CATHOLICS
If you are a single Catholic man or woman over the age of forty who would like to meet new people who share your values, please join Connected Catholics of the South Shore. The annual membership meeting will be held on Sunday, September 21st at 2:00 PM at Holy Family School in Rockland. Andrew Boteri will be the guest motivational speaker. SWIM WITH A CHILD
Volunteers are needed to swim one-on-one with students with mental and/or physical disabilities. Free childcare is provided and no special skills are required. Training is September 9th and 16th at the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton. Please call June Doherty at 781-335-3785 for more information.

CHRISTIAN MEDITATION
