WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS

On April 10th the Vocation Commission of St. Christine's parish sponsored a "World Day of Vocations" event which began with the 11:30 AM Mass and continued with a reception and lunch in the hall after Mass. Young adults who are in various stages of discernment in their religious and/or ordained vocation were invited along with vocation directors to attend. Using the theme from the letter and prayer of the late Pope John Paul II to "Put out into the Deep," which was written for this occasion, those in discernment prayed that God would guide their feet and their hearts on their life's journey as they, like Abraham and Sarah are willing to leave all for "the land that I will show you." Parishioners then raised their hands in blessing for the discerners asking that their inner vision be transformed so that they can see more clearly their own journey of peace and hope.

Present for this occasion were: a novice of the Sisters of Divine Providence, 2 postulants of the Daughters of St. Paul, a postulant of the the School Sisters of Notre Dame, 2 novices of the Little Brothers of St. Francis, a seminarian and a diaconate student, as well as Fr. Dwight OMI, vocation director of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate who also presided at the liturgy along with 3 deacons. Five additional vocation directors were also present.
